My Winter Skincare Routine!

Wednesday, February 7, 2018

After a brief thaw - Winter weather has come back in full force. With 40 days until the official start of spring (and an extra month before it actually warms up), it feels like Winter weather is sticking around for the long haul. Winter skincare is super important for me because I have very dry skin. The cold weather does nothing to help that, so I take extra measures to prevent my skin from getting too dry.

One of the most important steps in my skincare routine is hydrating. Whether it be from drinking extra water to using the best moisturizers - hydration is key 🔑.

My routine:
1. I use Lush's Cup o' Coffee mask to exfoliate. It's a gentle mask with coffee grinds which help to buff away dry skin flakes. The mask smells like coffee, which is great in the mornings if you need a little kick. My favourite part of the mask is it's vegan and microbead formula! Many skincare products on the market still have microbeads, which are tiny plastic pieces that end up in our water systems. If you can make the switch to microbead free products, you would be keeping plastic out of our water - which is incredibly important.

2. I cleanse with First Aid Beauty's face cleanser. It's a cream cleanser that removes any lingering dirt while adding moisture. This formula is cruelty-free and vegan.

3. I spray Lush's Breath of Fresh Air toner all over to help seal in moisture. I have sensitive skin, and I find the sea water paired with aloe vera helps calm everything down. I love that there is no alcohol in this toner because it causes my face to burn and feel drier than before. This product is cruelty-free and vegan!

4. Using First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Cream, I moisturize my entire face. I bought this after reading so many positive reviews on Sephora's website - and I totally get it. This moisturizer is not greasy at all and leaves my skin feeling soft but without a sheen. I love it! I bought the generic cream, but I've since learned there is a facial moisturizer. The formulas are very similar, so I'll stick to the regular cream until I run out. This product is cruelty-free and vegan

5. Lastly, I moisturize my lips with Fresh's Sugar Lip Caramel. I received this as a gift from Sephora and I really like the smell and how smooth my lips are after using it. I recently learned that Fresh is not a cruelty-free brand - which is really upsetting. I'll have to find another product to replace this one!

And that's it! My routine is not overly complicated and I think 'less is more' definitely works in for me but I'm always open to testing new products!

What are your holy-grail skincare products? Do you have a skincare routine?
