Off the Shoulder Bow Top and Scalloped Shorts

We finally have summer like weather showing up, which means it's time to break out the shorts. I have always wanted a pair of scalloped shorts, but I could never find a pair that was flattering.

One day I was doing some online shopping and came across a pair of pull on shorts with a scalloped hem and I decided to try them out. I'm so glad I did because I tried them on and fell in love. They are so comfortable and even have functional pockets (!!!!). The legs are pretty roomy, which I personally love (though you could definitely size down if you wanted a tighter fit).

I love this purse that I bought from H&M. It's the perfect size for your essentials and can be worn as a crossbody or hand-held bag.

For this post, I paired the shorts with this off the shoulder top which I love so much. The blue and white stripe pattern is perfect for summer and the bows are just fun. You could definitely wear this top with a pair of white jeans and wedges for a dressier look.

I'm so glad warmer days are ahead and I'm certain I will wear these pieces quite often throughout the summer.

Blue Whale Exhibit at the ROM

Yesterday I checked an item off of my summer bucket list! The ROM currently has an exhibit about blue whales - including a real life (plastinated) heart. I tweeted my excitement a few weeks ago, and I didn't think I would get to see the exhibit for a while. Luckily, the stars aligned for me and I had the chance to (briefly) see the exhibit this weekend!

I'll definitely be going back and spending a bit more time taking in all of the information - but for now, I'm so happy that I saw the heart! It was a bit dark inside of the exhibit, but I managed to get a few snaps inside.

The heart was my favourite part of the exhibit. It took three years for the entire preservation process from start to finish. This preservation is one of a kind and will last for 1000 years! There was a Smart car placed beside the heart for a size reference.

If you find yourself in Toronto before September 4th, I highly recommend checking out the Blue Whale exhibit and the ROM in general!

Random Favourites: A Book, Podcast and Two Albums

This post is kind of a mish-mash of things I have been loving lately. Separately, each topic wasn't quite enough for a whole post - but together it works!

Book:

Everything Everything is marketed as young adult novel - but I still loved it! If the name sounds familiar to you - that's because there is currently a movie out based on the novel. Amandla Stenberg (aka Rue from The Hunger Games) plays the main character, Maddy. Without spoiling anything, Maddy has a rare disease which keeps her from leaving her house. To pass the time spent isolated, she enjoys observing her neighbours.  When a new family moves in next door, her life completely changes! It's a quick read but a good one nonetheless. If you plan on watching the movie - don't read the book first because there will be major spoilers!

Podcast:
If you love anything Harry Potter, you will for sure love Harry Potter and the Sacred Text. One thing I enjoy about Harry Potter is how you're able to pick up on something new each time you read the books. The hosts read through a chapter of each book per episode, and analyze it through a specific theme. I've read the Harry Potter series a few times now and even I was pleasantly surprised learning new information I missed and thinking about the text in a different way. I love listening to this podcast in the car and shower.

Albums:
Paramore: After Laughter and Harry Styles: Harry Styles were both released on the same day and I totally felt like I was in high school again.

I am a huge Paramore fan and the new album is both angsty and fun. I love the tracks Rose Coloured Boy and 26! Harry Styles is another huge favourite of mine right now. I was really looking forward to hearing his sound outside of One Direction and he really did not disappoint, I absolutely love the track Woman and also Kiwi. I hope he plays them when I go to see him live in October (!!!!!!).

What are you enjoying right now?

Off the Shoulder Ruffle Dress

I'm pretty sure I've found the best dress ever for summer. This dress is super adorable on its own and could easily be dressed up or down. I can definitely see it being worn to an outdoor wedding, a weekend getaway or even a casual night out.

I love how comfortable the fabric is and the fit is great as well. There is a lot of room in the chest but not as much room throughout the rest of the dress. If you are looking for a loose fit throughout, I would size up.

The green is my favourite of the colours! I received so many compliments while wearing it. Paired with a bright pair of tassel earrings, it's a perfect outfit for summer!

The sandals I have on are from last summer (similar pair here) but I think the embellishment works well with the entire outfit and makes it fun. You could easily swap in a pair of wedges for a slightly more dressed up look.

I'm wearing my favourite lipstick by Clinique. I've blogged about it a few times - it's the Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. It goes on like a balm and adds just the right amount of colour. It's really not fussy, which is what I look for when the weather is warm.

A quick snap of the dress in chambray. After taking all of the photos for this post, I went back to Old Navy and bought the dress in black!

Kate Spade Surprise Sale!

Kate Spade is back with a surprise sale. It's been quite a while since I purchased anything from Kate Spade, but there are so many cute things in this sale that I may just pick something up. With graduation, internship and wedding season coming up, this would be a great opportunity to get the perfect gift and a little something for yourself too!

I personally love this necklace, this purse (which would be awesome for an internship), and this bangle!

What will you pick up this sale?
