Quilted Outerwear

A staple item in my fall wardrobe is my quilted vest by J. Crew. In Canada, Fall can be a very strange time where the weather is concerned. I'm talking frost on the ground by morning, blazing hot sun in the afternoon and back to freezing by night.

I love throwing my quilted vest on over a layered sweater so that I can keep up with the temperamental weather! Even if you live somewhere with fairly normal weather, a quilted vest is a super stylish addition to any outfit!

Here are some really great options that are sure to become a staple in your Fall wardrobe!

Down to a Science: New Semester Checklist!

It's a new semester for me, which means it's time to get reorganized. I find that towards the end of each semester things get super hectic and downright messy. I think it's super important to start of each semester with a clean slate, and that means organized!

I have a system that I use to get organized at the start of a new semester, and today I'm going to share it with you! These tips have worked for me since I started university!

1. Organize and archive old notes.
If you use your computer for notes like I do, now is the time to move them from your computer to an external hard drive or USB drive! I make a folder for each semester and store the notes there. If you use paper notes, organize them into a labeled binder and store them away.

2. Create new folders for each subject.
Pretty self explanatory. I like to keep my folders on the desktop for easy access to the files I need!

3. Read Syllabi and write down key dates.
Most professors will upload the syllabus before the first class. That is the time to print off a copy for yourself and to write down all of the important dates into your planner. This will ensure that you are aware of  deadlines and test dates well in advance, and that you are prepared for them. As a former TA I noticed that a lot of students would ask questions about things that were outlined in the syllabus (huge pet peeve), so reading it thoroughly will put you ahead of the game.

4. Make a hard copy of your timetable
I love having a copy of my timetable on the wall. It makes it easy for me to budget my time each day and schedule in any meetings that I may have. You could print your timetable from your school software or write it out on some cute stationery (like me)!

Lastly, treat yourself because you are now ahead of game this semester!

Currently Reading: Me Before You

Lately, I've been carving out time throughout the week to sit down and read. During this time devices are shut down and real world responsibilities are temporarily forgotten. Reading is such a great way for me to de-stress after a long day. I love imagining the characters I am reading about and placing myself into the story!

I just finished reading Me Before You by JoJo Moyes. In an attempt to not spoil the story, here is the plot description from Goodreads:

Me Before You

Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick. What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane. Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that. What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time.

Truthfully, I was unsure about this book at first because there was a lot of hype surrounding it. I'm happy to say that I was really pleasantly surprised! The character and plot development is brilliant. You'll definitely feel the characters grow from start to end. Speaking of the end - I totally cried. The ending was so a touch expected - but I still wasn't prepared for it.

Me Before You is a must read if you like romance novels with a bit more depth!

Back to Black

I have been wearing a lot of black lately and even though I prefer colour, I really love how chic a black outfit looks. Whenever I'm in doubt on what to wear to a particular event, I always gravitate to a black dress, skirt or blazer. I find that adding a black element to an outfit adds to the dressiness of your outfit.

Now that we are heading into Fall, there are a lot of options for well designed and cute black clothes - some of which I've featured in the widget below!
What are your thoughts on black?

I was scrolling through Instagram a few days ago, when I came across the coolest account. Gretchen Röehrs is a fashion illustrator who makes fashion sketches using food, yes food.

Kate Spade New Arrivals!

I know it's been a while since we last spoke - so first I'd like to apologize. Things have been very busy around here and I've really missed blogging! I've been keeping up with everything behind the scenes, especially with my most beloved brand Kate Spade.

The new arrivals are cat and chambray themed. Two things that I thoroughly enjoy! Summer is also starting to wind down and I've noticed that a lot of clothing being released now are perfect transition pieces for Fall. I love when clothes can be worn for more than one season, and Kate Spade definitely has it right with this new collection

I personally really love the kitten heels and black jumpsuit! What are your favourite items?!
