My Most Used Apps!

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

I have an Android phone and iPad, which is great because I get the best of both worlds in terms of apps. A lot of the time newer apps are only available for iOS - which means I can download them and test them out on my iPad until the Android version is available.
When apps are available on both platforms, I almost always download them to both my phone and iPad. I do this in case I get stuck without WiFi but have LTE or vice versa.

I have a lot of random apps on my devices, but only a few of them get used on a daily basis!

Google Keep - I love this app so much! It's basically a list/note taking app that syncs to your Google cloud. I love using the voice to text option, as well as the set a reminder option. I use this app to keep track of appointments, meetings, grocery lists and random bits of information that I need to save for later. There is also a desktop version of the app available!

Inbox - Inbox is the more functional and aesthetically pleasing version of GMail. I love it because it automatically sorts your mail into categories such as: finances, promotions, updates, purchases, etc. The app also picks up on dates and times within your e-mails and offers to add them to your calendar or reminders! How cool?

Instagram - I'm pretty sure everyone knows what Instagram is all about! I love taking pictures of my surroundings and uploading them to Instagram. I just finished December Photo A Day and it was a blast! You can follow me on Instagram here!

Snapchat - I LOVE Snapchat. It's really fun to see what your friends are up to at any given moment. A lot of public figures have also started using the app, which I think is a really awesome way to connect with fans! I recently learned how to let everyone see your Snapchat story - so if you are interested you can add me as a friend! My username is: preppyscientist

Elevate - This app is similar to Lumosity. There are a bunch of brain training games that are supposed to help improve your memory, language, and math abilities. The games are both fun and challenging and I play them everyday! There is a free daily training option and then a pro option - which gives you access of all of the games - for $5.99 a month!

UP24 - This app is the companion for the Jawbone UP24 fitness tracker. There is a version of the app that you can use if you do not have the bracelet - but I'm not familiar with it. The app translates your sleep, food consumption and movement into easy to understand graphics. It also has a 'Smart Coach' that gives you insights and tips on how to improve your health. I highly recommend getting the fitness tracker! I love mine and wear it everyday!

Duolingo - I plan on brushing up on my French skills as part of my 30 in 365 - and so far this app has been great! It's similar to Elevate in terms of the games, but differs due to it's focus on language. You can learn Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Irish, Danish, Swedish, and English for free! Yes that's right, this app is totally free! No paid pro-mode! I highly recommend this app if you are trying to learn a new language or practice one you already know!

What are your most used apps?

Never miss a post!

PS: All of these apps are available on the iOS and Android platforms!

  1. Google Keep sounds AMAZING! I can't believe I didn't know there was such a thing! Too bad I have an iphone and I don't think it's available... I guess for now I have the reminders app, even though I'm awful at using it consistently.

    1. I don't have an iPhone either! I use an Android and it is available in the Google Play store! Hope that helps!
