Scallop Season!!

I've been pretty bored with my wardrobe lately. Don't get me wrong - I love classic and chic clothing, but I wish I had a few more 'just for fun' pieces in my closet.

One 'trend' that I've been loving recently is scallops. I simply love scalloped clothing. I think it's a great way to add a little fun to any classic piece. There are currently some great options out there right now that I love! I definitely would love to add some of these pieces to my closet!!!!

Gifts for Mom

Mother's Day is fast approaching, and if you're like me - you probably haven't the slightest clue what to get for your mom! Moms are special people and often we take for granted the amount of work and sacrifice it takes to be a mom. I have the fondest memories of my mom taking me to every sports practice, instrument lesson, award ceremony and birthday party under the sun. Thinking about it now - it was probably a lot for her because I have siblings that also required the same amount of attention. That being said, I'm on the quest for the perfect Mother's Day present. Sadly, I won't be spending Mother's Day with my mom so when I do see her - I want the gift to be awesome!

Weekend Links

This has been such a great week back on the blog! I unveiled a new design and I really love it! Thanks so much for sticking around during the mini break!

Here are some links for the road!

I've always wanted a Filofax. It seems pretty random, but I just love the many ways you can customize the planner to your personal tastes. I was browsing YouTube one night and found this video - seriously amazing. I LOVE the setup she has. Just. So. Perfect.

I suffer from a chronically crazy inbox. It's just a mess. I subscribe to a lot of mailing lists, which just clutters up my inbox and stresses me out. Unroll.me is really great because it takes all of those e-mails and compiles them into one neat e-mail. Try it - you won't be sorry!

Recreating a Tutu
I always wanted to be a ballerina, but I never got my pointe shoes. I just love how graceful yet athletic ballet is. Just stunning. I still wish that I could float around in a tutu all day. I love this video that shows how tutus are made. You wouldn't think it's a very particular process - but it is!

J.Crew Sale!

You read that right! J. Crew is having a sale! 30% regularly priced items and up to 50% off sale items! You made it through this week - so you deserve to add something new to your closet.
Cheers to the weekend!

Green Smoothie Recipe

Now that the weather is a lot warmer, I've been experimenting with different smoothie recipes. Smoothies are really versatile and can be made as a meal, snack or even dessert. I usually make a green smoothie for breakfast, and it actually keeps me full while giving me enough energy to power though my mornings.

Try out my favourite green smoothie recipe*!

6 Tips for Tasty Green Smoothies - Katie at the Kitchen Door

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind will do!)
  • 2 cups stemmed and chopped kale or spinach
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pineapple (about 1/4 medium pineapple)
  • 1 ripe banana, chopped

Directions:
Add coconut milk, ½ cup water,  kale, pineapple, and banana in a blender and puree until smooth. Add more water to reach desired consistency.

Delicious!

New Wallpaper!

I'm in the midst of many changes in my life and well, it's quite scary. When I was younger I dreamed of being an adult and being in charge of my own life, but now that I'm here I'm almost always terrified of what's out there.

Sometimes I even shy away from great opportunities because of fear. I realize that this is a bad behaviour that I need to work on. I found this quote on Pinterest and it really spoke to me. "Decide that you want it more than you are afraid of it." I really think this can apply to anyone. We all have those things that we really want deep down, but shy away due to fear of failing.

I think owning the fear is a great place to start - but then moving past it to reach your dreams is even better! Use these gadget wallapapers as a reminder to chase your dreams!

The New Look!

My #1 item on the 30 in 365 was to redesign the blog. This item was something I though about a lot because I wanted the redesign to be perfect.

It was a labour of love and took a generous amount of time - but I'm so happy with the result. I loved my old theme and header (designed by the fabulous Karleigh), but I felt it was time for something that is more chic and a better representation of me.

The overall aesthetic is very simple and clean - compared to the crazy chevron background I had going on before. I still love chevron but it was distracting as a background. I also really really love the glasses that is now my header. You will never see me without my glasses on, so I think they are a perfect representation of me and this brand.

Before

After!

I'm now working on bringing this new look to all of my social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr) and I'm also in the process of designing new business cards! I hope you love the new look as much as I do!

Clinique Beauty Favourites

It seems that every with season my skin completely changes. Winter was really horrible and left my skin completely dry, dull and discoloured. So #notchic.

Now that the weather is a bit nicer, I've noticed slight changes - but I'm still struggling to leave my Winter skin behind. I've completely switched up my skincare and beauty products to go with the nicer weather.

I really love both Clinique's skincare and beauty line. The skincare products are all really light and gentle, yet keep my skin moisturized throughout the day. I especially love that their skincare products have SPF - since I spend a lot of time outdoors when the weather is warm. Clinique's makeup products are just fantastic. A little goes a long way and I never feel like I have a ton of makeup on, but I feel super confident to tackle my day. My top picks are their foundation, almost lipstick and blush.

Day and Night

I was browsing Shopbop the other day, and fell in love with a dress. It's by Juicy Couture and I think it's a great little number. Every woman needs a little black dress in her wardrobe and this one is perfect for day and night. The bow detail is great because it adds a girly flair to the dress, and you don't have to add too much to make an outfit. Though it's not super long, the sleeves and neckline make it classy for work and fun enough for a night out.

I styled this dress for the daytime and night!

Day
For work I think flats and a cute watch are a perfect option. I love these Kate Spade flats because the pointy toes mimic a pump, but the low heel is great for work. I also think any purse option would go great with this!

Night
How gorgeous are these pumps? I love, love, love the colour and texture. I also love how glam these J. Crew earrings are. Imagine how fantastic this model would look with a sleek pony tail, these glam earrings and amazing shoes! Your favourite clutch completes the look!
