30 in 365 Review: 2014

I started off 2014 with my 30 in 365. Thirty goals that I sought to accomplish in 2014. At the time it seemed simple enough and I was excited to share the journey with you on the blog. Here is my list:

1. Redesign The Preppy Scientist.
2. Start playing the piano again.
3. (Leisurely) read 30 books
4. Take a cooking class
5. Try speed dating
7. Upgrade to a DSLR camera
8. Use more personal photographs on the blog
9. Get back into vegetarianism
10. Visit somewhere I've never been to
11. Meet up with other bloggers in real life
12. Watch every Audrey Hepburn film
13. Downsize the amount of 'stuff' I own
14. Grow my hair out
15. Learn the art of water colour painting
16. Send out 15 handwritten letters
17. Make my mornings more productive
18. Attend TIFF
19. Run an entire 5K race
20. Film videos for the blog
21. Take a seven day vacation
22. Organize my iTunes library
23. Do early morning yoga
24. Stop relying on debit and credit cards
25. Make something found from Pinterest
26. Find the perfect pair of high heels
27. Visit Rhode Island
28. Purchase an iPad
29. Get head shots taken
30. Set up a savings account

As you can see, I didn't even get through half of the items. This is partially due to my 'goals' being somewhat lofty and partially due to my tendency to abandon all ships when things get stressful. So with that said, I will be doing 30 in 365 again - but it will be different. I've planned out 30 realistic goals and have a plan for each one. Putting this list out into the universe will hopefully make me more accountable to get everything (or most things) done.

1. Go an entire month without shopping for 'luxury' items
2. Read 35 books
3. Brush up on my French
4. Take the stairs everywhere for a full month
5. Hire a financial planner and start investing
6. Expand my Women in STEM series to professionals
7. Go to sleep by 11 PM every night for a full month
8. Unsubscribe from useless e-mails
9. Take a vacation
10. Increase my donations to the Delta Zeta foundation
11. Invest in a quality camera
12. Attend a Pentatonix concert
13. Expand The Preppy Scientist brand
14. Use up my stationery before buying any more
15. Host a blogger event (online or in person)
16. Finish a business plan for the blog
17. Get back into the sports I love (tennis and soccer)
18. Cook at least 3 dinners a week
19. Find a balance between paper and online planning
20. See two Broadway shows
21. Teach my cat a few tricks
22. Host a brunch for friends
23. Purge my magazine collection
24. Organize the files on my computer
25. Get back into piano
26. Reduce my carbon footprint
27. Get professional photos taken
28. Try unplugging once a week
29. Incorporate more giveaways on the blog
30. Stop doing any business/schoolwork from bed

I think this list is challenging but slightly more realistic than last year's. This new list can be found on the same 30 in 365 page as last year. I'm pretty excited for what 2015 has to offer and can't wait to share it all with you!

What are your goals for the new year?

xoxo
