I've mentioned here on the blog that I don't believe in resolutions, luck, all of the above - and I don't ever see that changing. I do however, believe in goal setting and creating the life you want to live.
Last year was a pretty rough one for me. I was constantly being pulled in so many directions, by so many different people that I just wanted to give up. I was in a constant cycle of overworking myself to meet the needs of others, but nothing I did was appreciated. I attribute a part of that feeling to being in a leadership position at school, but I also attribute it to my lack of goals.
You see, last year I really didn't think about what goals I wanted to accomplish and kind of just dealt with things as they came along.
By not having goals for myself, I didn't have a reason to stop and smell the roses. I didn't take time to debrief and see if my needs were being met (they weren't), and it left me feeling pretty bitter towards everyone around me.
So for 2014 I decided that I needed to have a clear focus on what I wanted to accomplish for myself. A list of goals. I came up with 30 (for now) that I call 30 in 365. This list - though small - will allow me to check myself (before I wreck myself ha...I digress) and make sure that I am focusing on my needs.
You can find my list on it's own page, and as I cross things off they will be documented here on The Preppy Scientist. I'm really excited for this 'project' and hope you will join me with your own lists!
Here's to 2014!
